FlussLab is a project co-created in 2018 by Agustina V. Palermo and Carolina Böttner, born from the need to create spaces for transdisciplinary dialogue, drawing on the diverse backgrounds and experiences of its co-founders.

What happens when we leave our comfort zone, step into an unfamiliar territory, and engage in dialogue with others? This question gave rise to FlussLab: a laboratory by the water where different disciplines meet through dialogue, research, and hands-on experimentation.

Fluss (river in German) takes place in the Paraná Delta, Argentina, and on the Elbe River, Germany. It functions as a laboratory where people interested in STEAM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) converge, ready to overcome the boundaries between different fields of knowledge.

FlussLab is a transdisciplinary residency and platform that focuses on processes—how the space and context permeate what we do. It is a place where ideas flow, practices converge, and boundaries begin to permeabilize.

The online residency emerged in response to COVID, inviting us to rethink our practices through virtuality. Since then, we have incorporated two annual online residency formats, each lasting two weeks with daily meetings, allowing participants to engage deeply in processes of experimentation and dialogue.

While our focus remains on the creative processes, the residency culminates in a presentation—online or on-site—depending on the format, giving shape to the ideas developed during the experience.

To date, around 105 residents from Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Mexico, Germany, Puerto Rico, Spain, Taiwan, China, Austria, Chile, Ukraine, Estonia, India, Paraguay, Israel, Hungary, Russia, Belarus, Japan, Portugal, Uruguay, and the United States have participated, enriching FlussLab with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Our aim is to provide a space and platform for transdisciplinary experimentation and dialogue, both in situ and in an itinerant modality, with activities taking place in Argentina, Germany, and online.
