This exhibition brings together a group of seven residents who explored —during two weeks of online residency— the possibilities of virtuality as dynamics of reflection, invention, and action. As a result of this multidisciplinary and collective work process, two collaborative pieces are presented. Both materialize in digital platforms and reflect on the appropriation and construction of habitable spaces.

With the general aim of considering digital platforms as sites for project production and visibility, Bárbara Bielitz (Berlin, Germany), Sebastian Castro (San Juan, ARG), and Evelyn Ruiz (Mexico) created the piece Corrupted Paradises. Obsolescent Island of Technological Disillusionments, as a virtual dimension to develop their work and question aspects of technological duality: the benefits of hyperconnection and the disadvantages of hyperconsumption and its environmental impact. This island is a participatory virtual space that the three artists open for interaction and collective reflection.

In Cuevario, the group formed by Noelia Avila (San Juan, ARG), Sofía Basañes Vázquez (San Juan, ARG), David Bustos Mahiques (San Juan, ARG), and Maite Reyes (San Juan, Puerto Rico), reconstructs in 360° format La Cueva del Quemado, located in the province of San Juan, Argentina. Through this act of appropriation, they intervene in the virtual walls with images and sounds that refer to traces of human habitation, sensitive marks left by the artists as they move through the space. This language was collectively composed based on the exploration of diverse realities, searches, and shared interests of the participants.

Virtuality is a contemporary technological phenomenon that provides new spatial and temporal relationships and conceives experiences that are only possible within the digital dimension. We can be closer, reflect collectively, build bridges of support and unity, and think in community. It is up to us to evoke those stones and make them shine.
